Hebrews 11:10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
What
we see with our natural eyes and encounter through our five senses is commonly
adequate proof to say something of actuality about the sensual world wherein we
live. On the other hand, Faith is the absolute confirmation that the Word of
God is genuinely precise and correct and gives us substantial verification of
the profound circle and undeniable proof of God's invisible domain. Our Faith
in God is the immaterial representative of our being that provides evidence of
the Word of God's accuracy and bears testimony to the truth of the eternal
kingdom of God. Faith will bring to our hearts and lives things unseen in the
physical world or the so-called great minds of philosophers and scientists.
Although the carnal world we live in does not see it, Faith is genuine and
available to all that seek the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus.
In both
the New and Old Testaments, we see many examples of faithful men and women who
trusted in God's promise that a Savior was coming to take away the sins of
humankind. These people, whose names appear in the hall of fame of Faith in the
11th chapter of Hebrews, believed God's Word through His Prophets, although
they never saw the fulfillment of the promise. These faithful servants of God
are examples for us to follow as we, through Faith, patiently await the second
and final coming of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
Although
God gave the Land of Canaan to Abraham and His descendants (Genesis 12:7), he
always saw himself as a foreigner and alien (Hebrews 11:9-10). He awaited with
Faith the ultimate city of God that was eternal (Philippians 3:20). As
Christians, we look forward to that city today that will be built on God's
permanent foundation and ruled by Christ Jesus, the promised Messiah. Patiently
waiting is a critical quality and attribute of Faith that rests on our belief
in the truth of the Word of God.
Some
of us have children who have drifted away from the truth, or some of us have
children who have never accepted Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We have
prayed for years that our rebel children would come to God's saving grace
through Christ Jesus, only to see them still in Satan's clutches. This
anticipation is why Faith is so critical that we might understand that God will
answer prayers in His time, not in our time (James 5:7-8). Finally, there is a
day when all of God's promises will come to fruition, our Faith will turn into
sight, and we will live in the city built on the foundation of Christ Jesus.
