Bible Verse of the Day Wednesday March 8th, 2023

Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, "I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin"?

The question asked here in this verse, who among can say that we are without sin, is emblematic, and the intention and aim of the response is no one. Noone has ever lived, living now, or will ever inhabit this planet that is righteous and void of in (Romans 3:10; 23). Righteousness can only exist by any human being in and through faith and belief in Christ Jesus, that He is the true promised Messiah that takes away the world's sins (Romans 3:22 a). The pretentious and holier-than-thou religious-leaning Pharisee would claim a self-righteous lifestyle. Many people down through the ages claim to be righteous when they compare themselves with their lustful and ne'er do-well friends or neighbors.

Any human being who thinks their heart is clean and void of sin is being deceived by Satan and fooling only themselves. Under the clarity and truth of God's Holy Word, this house of cards would quickly collapse. God is not seeking any response from anyone on this query; He created us, so He knows that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and powerless to change that situation and move from the darkness to the light on our own.

God's love and grace have cleared the pathway to a cleansed heart and forgiveness of sin. However, there are no choices of doors to open, no door numbers 1, 2, or 3 for us to pick. There is only one way: through our faith and belief in Christ Jesus. True forgiveness of sin comes only when we turn our backs on a pursuit of worldly fame and fortune and choose to take up our Cross and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24-26). If anyone attempts to save their immortal souls alone, they will lose them.

On the other hand, if we will but sacrifice our lives for Christ Jesus, we will gain eternal life. When Christ Jesus laid down His life, it was in one glorious moment on the Cross of Calvary that our Savior paid a sin debt on our behalf. We are to lay down our lives, not in one great and impressive flash of light, but a day-by-day giving of ourselves in service to God and others.

Let us praise God every day of our lives for our Savior's sacrifice on the Cross to atone for our sins. Furthermore, let us always show that appreciation by living our lives as an example for the world to see Christ Jesus in us.
