Daniel 11:32 With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.
Sometimes, we may only
remember specific details when we recall a particular incident. It could be
something someone told us, or somewhere we have traveled to. However, there are
other times we recall these past times with fantastic detail. There is one area
of the life of a child of God that we should remember clearly: our faith in
God. That is the core message in today's verse from the Book of Daniel. The
Children of God who are totally surrendered to Him will be able to resist
Santan's temptations and keep our lives on the narrow path to everlasting life
(Matthew 7:13-14). God's Holy Word tells stories of those who loved God and
remained on the path that led to him doing amazing things that astonished those
around them and even amazed themselves. These beautiful gifts do not come about
by only claiming we believe the Bible is the true Word of God. This level of
Godliness happens only through daily talks with God, studying His Holy Word,
and applying it to our daily walk with Him. We will never attain that level of
strength if we never get to know God deeply.
The question before us this
Day is how well we know God. The Bible tells us that Adam walked with God in
the cool of the Day. The Bible also tells us that Abraham was a friend of God.
Elijah lived so close to God that God took him to heaven in a chariot of fire.
Over and over, we read about these amazing people who were so close to God and
ask ourselves: How can I get close enough to God to feel His presence in my
life like these great people we read about in the Bible? The ones in the Bible
that we know were so close to God attained that status the same way we can.
Total surrender, heart, mind, body, soul, and spirit to God, turning our backs
on the world's temptations and surrendering our all to Christ Jesus and His
command to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Before our salvation, we were
only aware of the physical realm of our lives; however, when we accept Christ
Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God will open the eyes of our soul and spirit and
allow us to see more profound things that the natural person cannot even
comprehend. At first, these marvelous things that God has in store for us will
appear on the horizon; however, the closer to God we become, the more apparent
these beautiful gifts of the Holy Spirit will come into view. The bottom line
is that the more we surrender, pray, and study God's Word, the clearer these
gifts from God will not only come into view but also draw us closer to God.
